This time, two Peking University alumni will share their expertise in
Finance/IT sector and experiences working for the Federal Reserve Bank
San Francisco. There will also be plenty of opportunities for the
audience to ask questions and stage discussions on topics of interests
to them.
Topic I: Real-time Risk Management System in a Commercial Bank
Speaker: Steve Mu
Steve Mu currently is a Risk Management Consultant for Wells Fargo
International. He has worked in the financial IT service industry in the
area of derivative trading and risk management for companies like
CFOWeb, SunGard and BARRA for more than 8 years. Steve received his
Ph.D. in Applied Mathematics from Indiana University. He holds a BS
degree in Applied Mathematics from Peking University.
Abstract:
With BASEL Accord II to be effective in 2006, major commercial banks are
now implementing risk management system in order to be in compliance
with the new regulations. The system must provide support to analyze
different types of risks involved, with software components guarantee
the risk management policy be enforced. The purpose of this talk is to
discuss briefly on how these issues are resolved in a commercial banking
environment.
Topic II: Work and Life in the Fed
Speaker: Huaixi Li
Huaixi Li is currently working for Federal Reserve Bank of San Francisco
as a senior reserve analyst. Before joining the Fed, he was a branch
manager of Dyne Group. He also served as China Representative of Oxford
University Press, Department Manager of China Educational Publications
Import & Export Corp., and Lecturer of Peking University. He holds a BS
in Mechanics from Peking University and an MS in Statistics from
California State University of Hayward.
